F1

FAST ONE

The Full Story

After 6months of Devlopment and just on release our reverse luff curve Vortex sail was ruled out of competition. The international Rules committee issued a Rules clarification, stating that all Luff curves must be a positive curve as this was always the intention of the class. Bergan sail pulled the vortex of the market immediately as we only supply compliant sails.

As a response to the rule clarification, we have now released the FAST ONE or F1 for short. This sail has a 1mm positive luff curve and when used in conjunction with THE SYSTEM we have as close to the vortex design as we could possibility get.

Our motive behind these sails is to produce the most efficient sail we can. Across the full range of wind for the DF65 A+ and DF95 A rig.

By using a straighter luff curve, we push more usable sail area to the leech in our cross sections. Using The System for the way we tie the sails. We can achieve a gap from the mast allowing more back stay bend even though our luff is almost straight. In light air we can keep the mast straight and as the breeze increases you can add the necessary back stay tension to the rig. This allows for a greater efficiency across the breeze strengths.

We have used the same head and reinforcement as the vortex. the head is stiff but yet bends when you need to start to depower the rig. the bottom reinforcement is designed to keep the leech following all the way up the leech. We also use sail cloth as our jib pocket allowing a stiff forestay without tensioning the rig. we use carbon fiber battens and stenciled numbers come as part of the package.

These sails are for serious racer. Someone who understands the concept and make the changes in the conditions to maintain an efficient sail set.

There is a lot of work gone into these sails and the build is a longer process, these are our premium model sail and priced accordingly.
